Why vote for Luke?

As a 1st Year Course Rep and now president of the Pub Society, I understand the importance of putting the student voice first. This goes just as much for adhering to democratic processes of the Student Union, that of which I have had plentiful experience with during my roles. My primary ambition as a Student Councillor would be to transfer these skills and ideals I have learnt into my role, holding Sabbatical Officers accountable for ensuring student-first approaches in their work.

From my role as President, I am proficient in team delegation, setting deadlines, and ensuring the members of committee are meeting goals that have been predetermined. The same philosophy applies directly to how I would be delivering blunt scrutiny to the work of Sabbs to ensure they are meeting the initiatives they set out, as I work to translate verbose yearly plans into cut-dry goals to be met by each meeting.

As much as my role is about protecting students, it's also about taking into consideration the different cultures and demographics of the uni when decisions are made. From my time as a course rep, I have fought tenaciously for different causes which benefit demographics, for example ensuring recordings of lectures were consistently provided during Ramadan. I will continue championing equitable decision-making that reflects the full spectrum of student experiences.

Overall, I aim to bring accountability, clarity and genuine student-driven representation to the role of Student Councillor.
