Darryl 'Darryl' Mbongue - Student Councillor

I'm a first-year Electrical and Electronic Engineering student, and I want to be the kind of rep I never really had in school. As a Student Governor and a Physics Subject Ambassador, I learned that representation only works if you actually listen, follow up, and tell people what happened, instead of going quiet once you've got the badge. I care about seeing more Black and other underrepresented students choosing engineering and sticking with it, and I want to help with that through outreach, mentoring, and closer ties with societies like Cameroon Catalyst and ACS. If you vote for me, here's what you get: someone who'll actually chase up the small stuff, like timetabling clashes or the rough patches when you first move to independent study, instead of letting it get lost before Council; someone who'll push the University to communicate earlier on deadlines, Year in Industry, and course changes; and someone plugged into student life beyond the lecture theatre, through ECSS, ECS Sports, and Southampton Sport, so feedback on teaching and resources actually reaches people who can act on it. A hard degree doesn't have to swallow your whole life. I train, work shifts, play sport, and I'm learning French alongside my course, and I still show up. Balance is possible, not something you trade away to survive engineering. I'm not doing this for the title. Vote for someone who'll actually be accountable to you.
