Why vote for Finn?

If I am elected, my primary focus will be to represent pertinent views of philosophy students across every year group. This will entail finding, both, ubiquitous and specific feedback across all undergraduate and postgraduate years whilst presenting feedback and possible solutions to the faculty so that the philosophy department can continue to improve with regard to its student experience. Acting upon feedback across every year group will be the central issue of my representation of the student voice since it is critical that the department is able to aid philosophy students in different capacities according to their needs.

Alongside representing philosophy students by advocating for perceived necessary change within the course structure, I will be leading a campaign to offer staff-lead drop-in sessions that will target specific exam advice as and when the need arises. One of the many incredible things about studying philosophy at Southampton is that we are assessed through a plethora of different examination methods (essays, presentations, and discussion boards), however this often means that students remain unsure as to how they should best answer what they’re being examined upon. I will be campaigning for further opportunities where students can drop-in to seminar-based sessions to ask lecturers/professors for further assistance when it comes to examinations.
