Bangla Society

The University of Southampton's Bangla Society. As a dynamic community, we celebrate the diversity and traditions of Bangladesh while fostering a supportive environment for students from all backgrounds. Through cultural events and social gatherings, we aim to promote cross-cultural understanding and create lasting friendships.

The Committee

All clubs and societies within the Students' Union are run entirely by students. The student committee for Bangla Society this year are:

Sumayea Akter
President
  • The President will oversee the organisation and management of the Group and the Committee as a whole; ensure the officers’ accountability to Members, the Committee, and the Union; and represent the Group to all external interests.
Nabhan Rahman
Welfare Officer
  • A Wellbeing & Inclusion Officer will work to create a positive, inclusive, and supportive environment across the Group, to act as a welfare contact for the group in case of any concerns, and to guide Members toward the appropriate support services when needed.
Syed Eraj
Treasurer
  • The treasurer will oversee the financing of the Group, set the Group's budget, and maintain the accounts of the Group.
Namirah Nawar
Events Representative
  • Supports the planning and delivery of BSoc events throughout the year. Helps with event preparation, coordination and on-the-day organisation while helping create an enjoyable and welcoming experience for members.
Syed Iqbal
Events Representative
  • Supports the planning and delivery of BSoc events throughout the year. Helps with event preparation, coordination and on-the-day organisation while helping create an enjoyable and welcoming experience for members.
Md Jamil
Sports Representative
  • The Sports Representative will provide athletic pursuits for the Group’s Members, including the organisation of the sports teams and their training.
Tawshipa Jarin
Vice President
  • The Vice President supports the President in leading and developing the Group, helping to coordinate committee activity. The oversee day-to-day operations and step in for the President when required to ensure continuity and effective leadership.

Membership Information

These are the current membership fees offered by Bangla Society, although many clubs and societies offer a free period for new members to try out their activities.
