Welcome to BioSoc - the committee for all students studying a Biological Sciences Degree! The main aim of our society is to create a cohesive, vibrant and supportive community within the Faculty of Biological Sciences, ensuring every student feels valued and well adjusted to University life. To do this we run the following throughout each academic year:

Socials - from Winter and Summer balls to pub quizzes with your lecturers, this is a great opportunity to meet new people on your course.

Tea and Talk - sometimes Uni life can get stressful and a bit much - this is why we run "Tea and Talk" drop in sessions every fortnight. So whether you come just for a causal chat, a nice hot tea or coffee, the biscuits and chocolate snacks (and the occasional freshly baked cake), or you need help with a particular lecture topic or lab write up, career/life advice from the older (and sometimes wiser) students or lecturers, rest assured you will feel more at ease after coming!

Parenting Scheme - if you are a fresher starting off your degree you will be allocated a tutor group and two current students who will be your "BioSoc Parents". They are there to offer more casual advice about student life (you know, the things you wouldn't bring up with lecturers), and to support you throughout your first year of University!

Careers Fair - network with potential employers and gain valuable information regarding summer placements and postgraduate opportunities.

Intramural Sports Teams - compete in the intramural leagues with our Girls Netball Team, Men's Football Team, Men's Rugby Team and Mixed Hockey Team.

Year Membership only £5! - benefits include:

  • Discounted event tickets and hoodies
  • Access to members-only events
  • Opportunity to join our sports teams
  • Ability to vote on new committee members at the AGM
