Hello! We are the Gophers (aka Medics Hockey), we are a mixed ability club that welcomes anyone who fancies playing hockey, and although we are primarily medics, the society is inclusive to all those studying healthcare degrees such as physios, nurses, OT's etc. We even have many engineers on the team and in fact won the award for most inclusive MedSoc society in 2024.
We play competitive hockey in NAMS - the Medical school national league, as well as Intramural games for those who have never picked up a stick before. If you fancy getting involved in any way, please get in touch through facebook or instagram, or email me at as16n22@soton.ac.uk.
For those interesting in playing hockey, we train 8-10 on Thursdays at Wide Lane.
For socials, we have events most Saturdays so please check the facebook to get involved!
We have been voted MedSoc's social society of the year for many years now and are very proud of this. We have also won NAMS, the national hockey tournament 5 times most recently in the 24/25 season.
All are welcome to come along and try our training sessions and socials. Membership is required for special events such as tournaments and Varsity.

Membership Information
These are the current membership fees offered by Gophers (Hockey), although many clubs and societies offer a free period for new members to try out their activities.
