Polo

One of the most exciting and unique sports at Southampton 🏇 No riding experience needed, just enthusiasm. From beginner lessons to SUPA Nationals, Southampton Polo Club offers students the chance to learn, compete, socialise, and experience polo in a welcoming and supportive environment.

We are the Southampton University Polo Club

Southampton University Polo Club is one of the most exciting and unique sports clubs at the university, combining adrenaline, teamwork, competition, and a great social atmosphere 🏇

Whether you’ve never ridden before or already have experience, we welcome all abilities and actively work to make polo as accessible and beginner-friendly as possible.

What we offer:

  • Beginner-friendly training sessions
  • Arena & grass polo opportunities
  • SUPA Nationals & university tournaments
  • Professional coaching
  • Regular socials & events
  • A welcoming and supportive club environment

No riding experience? No problem. Many of our members started as complete beginners at university.

We also understand that polo can seem intimidating or expensive from the outside, which is why the club works hard to reduce barriers through beginner memberships, subsidised opportunities, shared transport, and inclusive training pathways.

Whether you want to compete seriously or simply try something new and meet people, there is a place for everyone at Southampton Polo Club.

Summer Beginner Only Membership 25/26£1.0020/04/2026 - 31/08/2026This membership is designed to provide a low-cost, low-commitment entry point into polo during the short summer uni polo season. It is aimed at students who are interested in trying polo in a more relaxed and enjoyable setting, particularly on grass during the warmer months, and move into the winter season in the next academic year. The membership allows beginners to get involved in summer training sessions, introductory lessons, and club activities, without needing to commit to a full-year membership. This helps make the sport more accessible and encourages new members to experience polo in a supportive environment. The goal of this membership is to increase accessibility, reduce financial barriers, and introduce new players to the sport, with the intention of supporting long-term participation as we move back into the winter season.
