The Labour Society is a group for Labour supporting students on campus. We aim to work with the University, SUSU and other student societies to represent Southampton students, to promote political education, to help students become involved in Labour politics and to support the local Southampton Labour Party.
About Labour SocietyWelcome to the Southampton University Labour Society!
As well as providing debate and discussion on all kinds of political topics, the Labour Society is a great way to get involved in the Labour movement and to meet new friends.
In the past, SULS has hosted meetings spanning from a panelist debate on Universal Basic Income, to workshops on political activism, and a discussion of the question 'What Should Labour do in Power?' And, of course, every meeting ends with a visit to Stags for even more lively debate. In that same period of time, we have organised many a social, such as our annual PMQs drinking game, a summer BBQ on the Common, and, during Freshers, a Pub Crawl.
SULS is not just a talking-shop, as we regularly participate in local and national politics, whether this be joining political demonstrations in the city, sending delegates to the Labour Students Conference (and then disaffiliating), registering students to vote, leafleting and doorknocking with the CLP, or joining lecturers on the picket lines during strikes!
If you would like to get more involved with our events and make loads of new lefty friends, don't hesitate to join our Facebook Group @
