Student Action for Refugees (STAR)

Welcome to Soton STAR!

Student Action for Refugees (STAR) works to raise awareness about and improve the lives of refugees in the UK by doing the following: Volunteer at local refugee projects; Campaign to improve the lives of refugees; Educate people about refugees and asylum; Fundraise to welcome refugees.

What we at Soton STAR do?

Educate

At Soton STAR we organise fun and education events to help spread awareness about refugees and asylum seekers. 

Campaign

We are campaigning for Equal Access to Higher Education to allow asylum seekers and refugees to be classed as home students and given access to bursaries and scholarships.

Volunteer

We work with charities, holding drop-in sessions like 'Welcome Cafe' where we helo refugees and asylum seekers improve their English skills, in a fun environment. Join us this year and get involved by volunteering! We welcome new ideas for volunteering projects!

Membership Information

These are the current membership fees offered by Student Action for Refugees (STAR), although many clubs and societies offer a free period for new members to try out their activities.
