Salary based on SUSU's Pay Band E with a full-time equivalent salary of £27,511 to £35,845 subject to experience.

35 hours per week.

The Role

As part of our commitment to investing in digital we have created the new role of Backend Developer. We have a range of in-house systems running our website, clubs & societies management system, elections & democracy features and more. We have ambitions to continually develop our digital environment to complement our physical environment, improving the experience for our students, and enhancing systems and processes for our staff.

This role will lead on developing our current digital systems, creating new ones, and supporting our staff & students with understanding how technology can deliver their aims.

About You

You should be skilled in backend web development, specifically working with PHP, MySQL, and JavaScript/AJAX. Experience of frontend frameworks would be an advantage, as well as integrating with APIs. You will be confident of communicating technical terms to a non-technical audience, translating end user needs into project specifications, and programming the new systems needed to achieve these.
