Keep Susu building open during weekends outside of term time
Students staying over summer (or those whose term does not actually finish until mid-July) want to continue using the sports facilities that they have paid for in their sports membership - the bouldering wall and squash courts!

Hi, Olivia here, I’m VP Sports for 2019/20. Thanks for putting in a You Make Change and your patience waiting for a reply.
I understand your frustration around summer opening hours with regards to Sport and wellbeing facilities.
Unfortunately any facilities within SUSU are subject to their opening hours, including those run by Sport & Wellbeing. As there are less students on campus it isn’t financial viable for SUSU to keep its buildings and facilities open over the summer during its regular term time hours. I have approached S&W about costs and this is taken into account of membership price.
I have explored if there was any possibility of us keeping Level One, with the climbing wall and squash courts, open longer after the rest of the building was shut. However, for safety reasons this is not possible as the site is supervised by SUSU staff not Sport & Wellbeing. The climbing wall and squash courts are useable during SUSU summer open hours and all other Sport & Wellbeing should be operating at usual hours.
I hope that helps and thanks again for writing in.

Hi there,
Thank you for your You Make Change submission.
We are currently in the process of our handover to our new Sabbatical team for 2018/19 and therefore a reply will take slightly longer. This You Make change will be handed over to our new Vice President Sports when she officially starts in the role on Monday 1st July and a reply should follow shortly after.
Thank you very much again for your submission and for your patience at this time.
Kind regards,
Emily Harrison
