Students with anxiety can struggle with using audio and video which may put them off accessing counselling through Enabling Services. It would be useful if Enabling Services introduced a text service (using Teams) to ensure students worried about audio/video, whether due to mental health, not being able to talk aloud, or any other reason, can still access support.

Hi there,
Please find the University's response to your submission below:
The introduction of counselling using text messaging or a chat-style function is something we would welcome and there are potentially great benefits to offering this facility. Indeed, we are currently reviewing more creative ways of reaching those students that struggle to access the service through traditional methods. We now need to explore how this could be achieved since it is essential that this is managed using a secure platform which meets the requirements of a safe therapeutic framework.
Please let me know if you have any further questions regarding this.
