Lobby the university to install CCTV of both of the crossings on campus for student safety

Over the last few months i've witnessed some incredibly unsafe behaviour of drivers and cyclists at all three of the traffic-light pelican crossings on Highfield campus. This has included people blatantly driving through red lights and narrowly missing pedestrians, red lights being outright ignored by cyclists despite people crossing the road, and people exceeding the 20mph speed limit. Today I was verbally abused by a driver who was on their phone, almost drove into me despite the light being red and had to emergency stop in the middle of the crossing.
Looking around the university, there don't appear to be any cameras which get a good view of any of the crossings, meaning that if anyone ever got hit by an unsafe driver, there would be no evidence other than eyewitness reports of these kinds of events happening.
I am hoping that by submitting this You Make Change, SUSU can enquire with estates and facilities about CCTV coverage of university crossings (both the two on University road and the intersection with Burgess road). If no CCTV exists, I hope that SUSU can lobby to have it installed to make campus safer for all.

Thank you for your submission!
Following my meeting with the University security team, I can assure you that there are camera's at the public areas of the University, including University Road. I'm really sorry you had this experience, if anyone has an incident like this please report it to security via their Sharepoint, dialing the number on the back of your ID card, or by visiting their office at the North Side Entrance of building 32!
If you have any further queries or would like to discuss this further, feel free to email me at president@soton.ac.uk
