Install a small fridge in WSA cafe

Complete

With no competition to the WSA cafe, the cafe can charge ridiculous prices due to there being no alternative food options like at highfield campus. Staff have their own fridges in offices to avoid the expensive cafe and bring in their own food. Students dealing with the cost of living crisis would benefit from being able to store their own food in a fridge by the microwaves in the cafe. This could be managed by the neighbouring SUSU help desk or volunteers , emptied at the end of every day to avoid overuse.

Hi,

Having looked into this a little further, unfortunately it wouldn't be possible due to the high likelihood of stuff being left behind and creating waste. I would encourage students to keep food in their bag and bring an ice pack or similar if it needs to be kept cold. Any further thoughts or questions please email me at vpeddem@soton.ac.uk.

Kind regards,

Hi,

Thank you for submitting this idea. I will look into what is possible here, on an initial thought, I think the main concerns would be people taking each others food (even by accident) or forgetting about it and there being a lot that needs throwing away. From your experience what would prevent students from keeping food in their bag? More information will make it easier to ask about! Any further thoughts, please email me at vpeddem@soton.ac.uk.

Kind regards,

Rebecca
