Stop SUSU from changing affiliation rules and forcing societies to bank/elect through SUSU

Complete
SUSU intends to change affiliation rules for societies in such a way that is detrimental to many societies. This includes:
- requiring societies to have at least 20 registered members
- requiring societies to bank with moneyhub rather than another bank
- requiring societies to conduct elections through the new groups hub system which has not been tested and goes against many society constitutions.
This is a serious issues for a large proportion of societies who may be smaller, or minority societies which explicitly do not track members due to privacy/exposure concerns.
All of these changes have been made without consultation of students and still appears to not have been announced.

Thank you for your submission. The new rules are predicted to bring more benefits than disadvantages to societies and bring SUSU in line with all other UK SUs. The majority of societies will not be affected as they already have over 20 members and use MoneyHub. These changes were announced at the Clubs and Societies training earlier this month which all societies should have attended so should all now be aware. In response to the comment, there is no 50p membership charge. There will be ongoing student consultation and support in the new academic year, so if you would like to provide input or need advice please get in touch with suactivities@soton.ac.uk. All best, Amy (VP Activities).

I am in full agreement. I also oppose the 50p membership charge, as it will disproportionately hurt small societies, as will the bulk of the intended changes. At the very least, students must be consulted before such changes are implemented, and I am confident that the majority will oppose and that SUSU will rethink these changes long before implementation.
