The committee read and approved the minutes from the previous meeting.

Actions from Previous Meeting:

Frazer to circulate E+D Forum to the committee. – Chase Frazer.

Ell to meet with Holly from the shop to discuss a Fair Trade range. – Ell reported that the option of a Fairtrade range is not worth doing at the moment.

Ell to discuss possible prizes for the Environmental Rock Fest with David and George. – This did not happen.

James to speak to Cameron about the possibility of using the PA House. – James followed this up and unfortunately it was not possible, there is the possibility of residency space in halls though.  David and James to discuss other options as well.

Flora asked the committee to promote the Meliora Journal.  – The event went well.

3. Officer Update

3.1. Ethics and Environmental Officer:

Ell reported that the Fair Trade makeup event went well, there was very positive feedback and considering it was a very quiet day on campus they managed to engage with around 30 students.

3.2. VP Welfare Update:

David is in talks with EthiCo about reusable water bottles to sell in Union shops, he is now waiting for them to come back with costing and then will take to Union Services.

The Union has been testing biodegradable takeaway containers, cutlery etc.  There have been mixed reviews with some products coming out better than others.  Those product which were good, the plan is to implement for the next academic year.

Change Your World Week – went well.  The alternative food stall which offered insect tasting went down very well, as did the Vegan food on offer.  David estimated around 120 students attended the event.

Cupcake Election – all political societies were in attendance and in total 167 students registered to vote which was a great success.

The Union in partnership with BBC Radio Solent are hosting a hustings on the 1st June, also on the 15th June a debate is being organised in the Bridge.

There is also going to be a register to vote stall in the library all next week.

4. Water fountain map - crowd sourcing

George showed the committee the current water fountain map which has been created by the Open Data Centre at the university.  It is an interactive tool for mapping which anyone can use.  It is on every campus including Malaysia!  There is potential to use for toilets, study spaces and computer stations to log on to.

5. Action plans

David explained the process of policies from old AGMS being either dropped as they are no longer relevant or turned into Action Plans.  David ran through the policies which will be turned into Action plans, and explained the process and how that will also help with accountably.

6. Southampton Pride 2017

Confirmed for 26th August. David will discuss plans for the day with E+D Officer Frazer Delves at a later date.

7. Shift Your Stuff

Collections will be carried out on 13th June and 30th June.
