£27,511 to £30,046, with potential progression to £35,845 (pro-rata)

Part time between 24 to 30 hours, over 4 or 5 days per week

Hours based on a 35 hour full time equivalent

 

Are you an experienced People operations (HR) specialist who is looking to take on an exciting new challenge within a not for profit organisation? If so, the University of Southampton Students’ Union (SUSU) have an exciting new opportunity for a People Advisor to join the team!

The Role

The People Advisor will have a key role in enabling us to attract and retain talented people and maximising the employee experience. You will work closely with our Director of People and People Development Manager to provide a comprehensive people offer to the organisation, leading on a number of projects and initiatives which enable a positive, motivated and resilient workforce.

This is a hands-on role, where you will have the opportunity to work across all areas of the employment lifecycle; coordinating processes and schemes, providing support in employee relations matters, leading on and rolling out people initiatives and supporting the performance and development our people. You’ll build and sustain positive relationships with staff and Line Managers, supporting in employment matters and managing casework. You’ll be proactive and supportive in providing effective solutions to people matters, working closely with people to promote a positive environment and culture. You'll work with an Administrator to ensure that the organisation maintains accurate details for our people working with; preparing and updating employment documentation and ensuring that information is shared with payroll.

 

About You

We are looking for an experienced People / HR generalist who is passionate about providing effective customer service. You’ll be CIPD qualified, or have equivalent specialist experience and will be committed to your ongoing professional development. You will be an advocate for change and able to communicate with people in a positive and consistent manner. You'll have the ability to help to understand the root cause of problems in order to provide practical and efficient support. You will have an understanding of utilising an HR information system (we use Cascade) within an organisation and the ability and willingness to develop in this area, as well as being able to utilise the Microsoft Office suite.
