The University of Southampton’s Students’ Union (SUSU) exists to unlock the potential and enrich the life of life of our 23,000 student members. We are a highly diverse organisation with 400+ staff and over a thousand volunteers, our activities range from sports clubs to commercial and office areas and a range of events and activities. Health and Safety lies at the core of all the things we do and this is a great chance to work with a wide variety of different activities and make a real difference to the lives of our members.

You will report to the Head of Commercial Development and the main responsibilities of the role are:

  1. To deliver the Health & Safety Policy and embed a positive safe culture within SUSU.
  2. The management and coordination of health and safety activities throughout SUSU.
  3. To provide technical support and advice to our staff and student groups.

You will possess a NEBOSH general certificate and be competent in legal terms to develop, manage and implement H&S legislation and policies. Your strengths will be in sound technical knowledge with the ability to advise varied audiences both on an individual basis and presentations to larger groups. You will enjoy building good working relationships with both staff and students to help deliver their activities safely.
