Complete
There are still many staff and students on Highfield campus every day, especially PhD, MSc, international and placement students. The Union should accomodate these students by opening the Shop 12:00-14:00, and 16:30-17:30 during the university vacation periods.

Hi Eliza,
As promised, I come back to you with an update!
From 17th June we will be doing a trial of opening the Cafe after the shop shuts from 4-7pm for you to buy sandwiches, crisps, drinks and confectionery. This will be for a month, after which time we will review if the service is being used enough to be financially sustainable. If it is, we will continue it after graduations finish. This will NOT include hot food (The Bridge and Stags will be open and serving as normal so you will be able to grab hot food there)
You can find my full post about it here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/UnionSouthamptonPostGradCommunity/permalink/2148253365292419/
Any questions, please do not hesitate to drop me an email vpcommunities@susu.org
Kind regards,
Emily

Hi Eliza,
Thank you for your You Make Change submission.
The Shop is currently open 8:30am-4:30pm Monday-Friday during the University vacation periods, so it does cover the lunchtime periods and indeed the majority of the working day.
Having said this, we are aware of the frustration that shorter outlet opening times causes students. Unfortunately, it is not as simple as just keeping them open longer as we have to be able to cover the cost of staffing with the takings of the outlets, which it is not able to do with the standard term time hours. However, we are looking into a solution to resolve this issue for all parties.
I will come back to you when I have more of an update.
Kind regards,
Emily Harrison,
Vice President Student Communities, 2018-19.
