Why vote for Wilson?
Dear fellow students,
My name is Wilson, and I'm currently the President of the Business School, studying Finance and Financial Technology. Wanting to create a positive impact and a supportive community, I was previously elected as the Business School President and was shortlisted for the academic award for my excellence in the role. This year, I would like to use my valuable experience to benefit a larger student body. Therefore, I am thrilled to run for the Social Science Faculty Officer. I would be honoured to receive your support as we work towards a better university experience.
I am passionate about fostering a more inclusive environment to promote student success and professional development. As Social Science Faculty Officer, I will strive to create more opportunities for students by creating interfaculty and intrafaculty networking events and inviting speakers, ensuring fellow students have access to practical tools for their development. As the lead representative of the faculty, I aim to encourage students to participate in university-wide initiatives to further enrich the student experience.
Furthermore, my vision is to have a strong and welcoming community in the faculty where fellow students collaborate and have transparent communication. To that end, I aim to ensure the creation of group chats to foster that sense of community. Not only will this create more opportunities for student-to-student interactions, but I believe this will also positively impact student representation throughout the faculty of social science. Moreover, the interconnectedness of schools in the faculty is something that I want to improve, as I believe more communication across the student body will lead to a more cohesive and responsive student body.
As the Social Science Faculty Officer, I will facilitate a positive relationship between the university and the student body. I will sit on meetings, such as the faculty education and student experience subcommittee, and regularly review student feedback alongside the university to identify areas for improvement that will lead to academic and non-academic improvements for all students in the faculty.
Additionally, I strongly believe in transparent communication and feedback between fellow students and instructors. To that end, I will oversee department and school presidents fulfilling their role and leading their respective SSLCs. I will ensure the transparency of feedback and results to improve the quality of teaching and learning in each school by objectively evaluating whether the SSLCs' feedback is communicated to students. Where there can be improvements, I will communicate this issue and brainstorm a way to close the feedback loop, such as by introducing a newsletter.
I have extensive leadership and organisational experience, ranging from involvement in cultural societies to competitive debating. Using my experience and your views, we can create a more enjoyable university experience together.
Thank you,
Wilson Wijaya
