Why vote for Abi?

Hi everyone! My name is Abi, and I am excited to nominate myself as a candidate for Education School President. You may know me from my time as one of your Joint Honours course reps over the two years I have been here, or as a Peer Leader for some of you in first year.

Having been a course rep, I have realised the importance of student voice in making positive change in our community. The president role is not just about leadership but listening to and representing our cohort to make such changes. My experience as a rep has allowed me to understand more about how the programme works and about the main concerns that students have about their course, such as feedback and deadlines, and these issues would be addressed in my term.

Cohesion, transparency and accessibility are key to a well-functioning community. If I were to be elected, my main goal would be to improve the communication of programme feedback opportunities so that they are accessible to home and international students, because everybody’s voice deserves to be heard equally. With a commitment to ongoing dialogue and student wellbeing and with the help of our course reps’ signposting and communication, we will further emphasise that you do not have to wait until an SSLC to share any concerns or things you would like to continue in the programme, and this could be achieved using an anonymous form that is open all year round.

Good luck with assignments!
