Why vote for Callum?

Hi there, I’m Callum, a first year Computer Science student running to become Engineering and Physical Sciences Faculty Officer for the academic year 2025-26. I’m nominating myself because I believe the student voice needs to be heard at all levels of the university, and I want to make sure your voice shapes the decisions that affect our time here.

Why me?

Here are 5 reasons I believe I’ll make a great Faculty Officer:

1. Experience: As a current course rep, I already actively listen to students and raise their concerns - experience that’s prepared me to represent your voice on a larger scale.

2. Commitment to student voice: I am passionate about ensuring the concerns and interests of the student body are heard. As your Faculty Officer, I will work towards positive change for all FEPS students.

3. Teamwork and collaboration: I believe that working together is key to achieving positive results. I intend to fully collaborate with your School / Department President to address concerns quickly and efficiently.

4. Proactive: As your Faculty Officer, I will propose new ideas and projects to improve student experience, as well as work with your other senior reps to ensure that your feedback leads to tangible positive change.

5. Strong comunication skills: I can listen to and understand problems faced by others, and this is particularly appropriate for this role. In this way, I can understand and address your needs as a FEPS student.

What I'll achieve

Here are my top 3 priorities if elected as Faculty Officer:

1. Take overall responsibility for academic representation

As Faculty Officer, it will be my responsibility to ensure academic representation across the Faculty is meaningful and visible to all students, so that students feel they have a rep they can raise concerns with. I will work with university staff and reps to make sure that students see their valuable feedback leading to change.

2. Effectively lead the School and Department Presidents

I will work closely with your School and Department Presidents to build a stronger, more coordinated team of representatives. In this way, solutions to problems experienced by one School can be quickly applied to other Schools facing similar issues. I’ll hold regular check-ins, encourage collaboration and provide clear guidance to the Presidents, to ensure they feel supported and empowered to represent their student bodies. Together, we’ll elevate the student voice to the Faculty level, uniting across Schools and Departments.

3. Encourage participation in initiatives to enrich the student experience

I’ll encourage more students to get involved with initiatives that improve the academic experience, as well as meeting regularly with your other senior reps to plan and share ideas.

I hope you can see that I’m passionate about strengthening the student voice so that everyone has a say in their education. With previous experience and clear priorities, I’m ready to represent you and your fellow students.
Vote Callum Scott for Engineering and Physical Sciences Faculty Officer - because your voice deserves to be heard at every level.
