Why vote for Suci?

I truly enjoy exploring new experiences and connecting with people. On my very first day at the university, I volunteered at the Student Hub, assisting new students with practical matters such as collecting ID cards and using the MySouthampton app. Since then, I have continued my volunteer journey by supporting the Faith and Reflection Centre (FRC) every Wednesday during my first year as a PGR student. Sharing a warm cup of coffee or tea while listening to stories from people of diverse backgrounds has been a powerful way to practise patience, empathy, and gratitude.

As a PGR student and a mother of two daughters, I bring a distinct perspective to the communities I engage with, including the PGR Parents Network. These spaces allow me to learn from others while offering support and encouragement. I look forward to building more meaningful connections with fellow researchers, especially in welcoming environments such as the Social Science PGR Office. I also want to spread the message that being a woman, a mother, and a PhD student is not impossible, even though it can be challenging. With the proper support and mindset, it is absolutely achievable.

Beyond academia, I have a deep passion for traditional dance, which I have loved since primary school and continued throughout my undergraduate years. I believe that joy and expression through dance can uplift and inspire. Let’s dance together and bring more colour to our shared journey!
