Why vote for Olawale?

Research is not just a requirement of my postgraduate journey — it is my passion. I believe that through research we create knowledge, shape culture, and contribute to society. Yet, I also know that being a Postgraduate Researcher in Arts & Humanities comes with challenges: from funding pressures and teaching loads to mental health strains and uncertainty about future careers.

I am standing for election as your Arts & Humanities Postgraduate Research Officer because I want to turn this passion into action. My vision is a research community where every PGR feels supported, valued, and empowered.

If elected, I will focus on:

1. Wellbeing and Support** – championing better mental health services, fairer workloads, and constructive supervision practices.

2. Representation and Visibility ensuring Arts & Humanities researchers have a strong voice in SUSU, the Graduate School, and University policy decisions.

3. Opportunities and Community** – expanding career development workshops, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, and strengthening our research networks.

I will listen closely to your concerns, communicate transparently, and ensure that your voice shapes every campaign and policy I pursue.

By voting for me, you are choosing someone who genuinely loves research, understands the PGR journey, and is committed to making your time at Southampton not just a degree, but a thriving and fulfilling experience.

Together, let’s strengthen the voice of Arts & Humanities postgraduate researchers.
