Why vote for Hannah?
Hi, I’m Hannah, currently studying MSc Gerontology. I’ve been at this University for the past three years, where I studied BSc Population Sciences. During my undergraduate degree, I was a Course Rep, so I am familiar with how the SSLC runs, and am ready to take a step up.
In my first year, I set up the Taylor Swift Society and was its President for two years, in which time I was able to practice my communication and leadership skills, liaising with the Students’ Union to become an affiliated society and supporting the rest of my Committee in their roles. I am also an active member of the Model United Nations Society, having been on the Committee for three years now. I have experience chairing at our weekly sessions as well as our national conference and feel that these skills would help greatly in the role of Gerontology Department President.
My core goal for this role is to put student’s experiences at the forefront of everything: if a certain module is working well for you, that should be fed back to your lecturers and celebrated; and if you are struggling, you should feel comfortable approaching your Course Rep, myself, or any other available source for assistance. I believe it is vital to ensure every student knows who they can talk to for help, guidance, and feedback, and knows that they will be supported every step of the way.
