Priyansh 'Pri' Shandilya - Student Councillor

As a passionate and proactive student of BSc Finance & FinTech, I’m standing to be one of your Student Councillors to ensure that every student’s voice — across all faculties, backgrounds, and interests — is heard, valued, and acted upon.

Having already represented students as a Course Representative in my first year, I understand how vital clear communication and accountability are in shaping meaningful change. I’ve worked closely with academic staff to raise student concerns, improve feedback channels, and encourage collaboration between cohorts. These experiences have shown me that effective representation isn’t just about speaking — it’s about listening, following through, and ensuring results.

If elected, my goals are simple:

• Advocate transparency and accountability in decision-making at SUSU.

• Champion mental health and wellbeing support through accessible, stigma-free initiatives.

• Push for better academic resources and timetabling consistency across faculties.

• Promote an inclusive, student-led culture where everyone feels empowered to get involved.

I believe that the Student Council should reflect not just leadership, but partnership — a group of students working with, not above, the wider student body.

I’m approachable, reliable, and driven to make our time at Southampton the best it can be — not only academically, but personally and socially too.
