Why vote for Alex?

I would love to be your course president because I believe in a strong, supportive, and engaging community that enhances our university experience. I want to ensure we are all heard within the department and see how our voices can lead to real change, helping us to succeed.

As your Course President, one aspect I will prioritise is transparency and communication between students and staff. Whilst engaging with PAIR partners, it became clear to me that everyone is frustrated with this topic. Students, including myself, don't feel connected with staff, and I will bridge that gap. I have a plethora of ideas to bring us closer together; these range from social events, such as bingo/quiz nights and trips to relevant places, to more formal networking and Q&A sessions. These events will allow the departments as a whole to come together and create an inclusive, well-rounded environment, creating platonic and professional ties where everyone's name is known before they graduate.

Additionally, I aim to make academic feedback more engaging and accessible. Feedback is quite inconsistent at times. I plan to end this by creating interactive feedback sessions where I will bring the private meetings held with lecturers to everyone, with dedicated drop-in times to understand how to improve the work produced in greater depth.

As an individual, I bring strong organisational and leadership skills from my previous experiences in employment and education. Through this, I have learnt how to balance opinions and include everyone.
