Why vote for Hazel ?

I am Hanzi, from China, now an iPhD student in Gerontology, with an academic background in Mathematics(undergraduate) and Applied Statistics (master’s). My multidisciplinary training allows me to think critically, analyse complex issues, and approach problem-solving with evidence and balance. Over the past two years, I have interned and trained with UNECE Geneva, UNESCO Headquarters, and UNESCO Reginal Office in Nairobi, focusing on international collaboration, social inclusion, and promoting STEM Education in region. (Welcome to connect through LinkedIn!)These experiences have strengthened my intercultural communication skills and my commitment to fairness, equality, and representation.

If elected as a Student Councillor, my goal is to ensure that SUSU’s policies and activities are diverse, inclusive, and truly representative of ALL students — domestic and international, undergraduate and postgraduate alike. I will work to strengthen the connection between the student body and the Union, promoting transparency, accountability, and open dialogue.

As an international researcher who has worked across continents, I believe that diversity is not only a strength but a foundation for innovation and growth. I will bring analytical thinking, empathy, and international experience to the role — ensuring that every student’s voice is heard, valued, and represented in the decisions that shape our university community.
