Why vote for Adelina?
Dear fellow Philosophy students,
I am running for the role of Philosophy Department President because I firmly believe that every student deserves to be heard and supported, and deserves a say in shaping their academic environment.
Serving as President of the PPE Society, I‘ve faced several challenges. At the start of the term, our committee was unableto fulfil the SUSU affiliation requirements. I acted quickly and secured approval from SUSU under tight time pressure. This demonstrates my ability to build effective channels between students and staff, and convert feedback into meaningful action.
Over just one month, I led the team in growing membership tripled to roughly 120 students, covering a large part of the Philosophy courses. I believe that having a large membership base also enables me to hear honest feedback on courses.
As an international student, I understand the uncertainty and confusion that come with starting in a new system. And because I’ve been through it myself. Likewise, having ADHD also secures me a deeper awareness of the challenges faced by neurodiverse students.
I'm not going to make promises like “if I get elected everyone gets free Jesters tickets or free drinks.”What I can guarantee is: I WILL fulfill my duties with diligence; be a strong, loyal conduit between students and faculty; listen carefully to every voice; ensure your concerns are conveyed; and work actively to solve issues and bring meaningful improvements.
Thank you so much for considering my candidacy.
