Why vote for Lanxin?

Vote for me as your VP Communities, and I’ll build a campus where every student feels seen, connected, and truly at home—one where diversity is celebrated, communities bond, and inclusion guides everything we do. As a volunteer leader, people-focused advocate, and culture enthusiast, I have the experience, passion, and drive to turn this vision into action.

As former President of the University Volunteer Union, community building is in my core. I led large-scale campus and cross-school events for over 4,000 participants and organized the "New Year’s Letters" initiative uniting 28 Shenzhen middle schools, which sent more than 50,000 handwritten letters. I also led nursing home volunteer programs, grew our team by 30 members and accumulated over 300 volunteer hours. These experiences taught me that strong communities thrive on listening and meaningful connections—a principle I’ll bring to this role each day.

I’m an outgoing “social butterfly” who loves connecting with people from all backgrounds. I break down barriers, start conversations, and make sure no one feels left out. As VP, I’ll be accessible—chatting in dorms, listening to your ideas at society meetings, and advocating tirelessly for your needs. I’ll act as a bridge between groups, a voice for the quiet, and a cheerleader for every student seeking belonging.

I deeply value all cultures and believe our differences make our campus vibrant. My experience on Trend Partner, where I promoted JK culture with celebrities, fueled my passion for celebrating niche communities. As VP Communities, I’ll make cross-cultural exchange a cornerstone—organizing fairs, music nights and discussion groups, and supporting small societies to strengthen connections between local and international students.

I bring practical skills to lead from day one. As a Broadcasting and Hosting Art graduate, I excel in communication and presentation. My experience as a fashion trainer honed my project planning, team coordination, and result-driven execution—skills I’ll use to support societies, dorm communities, and cultural groups. I work well under pressure, turn ideas into successful events, and am a dedicated team player.

My promises are clear: strengthen connections across dorms, societies, and cultural groups; launch more volunteer programs; advocate for more society resources; host regular cross-cultural events; and be your constant advocate. This role is more than a title—it’s a chance to serve and build something special together.

Vote for Lanxin Chen for VP Communities—connection isn’t just a goal; it’s a promise I will keep!

If I were elected, the first thing I would do is speak with the previous Vice President and learn more about what they have worked on and achieved during their time in the role. I think it’s really important to understand what has already been done and learn from the good experiences.

At the same time, I would also reflect on my own experiences as a student this year. By combining what I learn from the previous team with what I have experienced myself, I hope to better understand students’ needs and start working on ways to support them.

I’m happy to be open about this. I did use AI as a tool when writing my manifesto. I shared my own experiences, ideas and what I want to improve in SUSU, and used AI to help organise my thoughts and express them more clearly.

The ideas and examples in my manifesto all come from my own experiences and what I genuinely care about. AI simply helped me present them in a clearer way so more students can understand what I want to say.

I believe AI is a tool many students use today. What matters is using it responsibly and honestly, and for me it was just a way to communicate my ideas better.
