Why vote for Molly?
Hi, I'm Molly and I'm running to be your Psychology School President.
As psychology students, we all experience the pressures that come with such a demanding and varied discipline, from coursework deadlines to statistics exams. I want to help to create an environment that reflects the values we learn are essential for healthy academic development throughout our degree.
During my time at Southampton, I have been involved in a wide range of projects, including consultation meetings and working in various research assistant roles. These experiences have given me valuable insight into both the strengths of our school and where improvements can be made.
If elected, I would work to improve communication between students and staff by advocating for a more continuous and accessible feedback system, where anonymous concerns can be raised throughout modules rather than only at the end of the semester. I would also push for greater transparency surrounding opportunities such as research assistant roles and extracurricular involvement from the beginning of year one, helping students gain experience earlier and feel more prepared for the world beyond graduation.
Alongside this, I would advocate for more structured PAT meetings with greater emphasis on career preparation such as CV support. I also want to increase awareness of external wellbeing services to offer alternative routes for support in times of high demand.
I am dedicated to improving the experience of being a Psychology student at the University of Southampton and I would be proud to enact this as your Psychology School President.
