Leadership is a significant characteristic of mine wherein I seek to create a course environment that can be negotiated to the benefit of its students. My experience within similar roles demanded high quality outcomes, and stem from leading and managing a 3-month research project based around testing an avant-garde means of generating power for propulsion systems, and various more design projects, such as one for a wind turbine presented before a panel of judges/mentors. Other experiences that support my application as department president include managing my own kickboxing events, where I was responsible for safety, assessing quality of teaching, and actively receiving and using feedback. Showing my bursting interest and commitment to improving my high-school, I held a position on the school council to voice students’ concerns effectively, where I partook in meetings that contributed to many changes in school policy and teaching standards.

I believe I will make clear and effective improvements to this department at Southampton as a link between you and the University. I seek to make this course the pride of Southampton, and raise its rankings further, making its students proud to have scored a place on this programme, raising competition. I offer that through me, the students here will have an effective voice to authorities, to improve the quality and standard of the department and student experience. Regardless of the nature of your ideas, you are a part of Southampton, and I would be honoured to represent you on this course, to shape our future.
