After returning from his travels, Dionysus, the god of wine and revelry, discovers there is a new king of Thebes. King Pentheus, Dionysus' cousin, refuses to acknowledge Dionysus' divinity as a god. Outraged by this, Dionysus disrupts the city of Thebes, leading a chorus of wild women into a frenzy to seek revenge against King Pentheus in a performance packed with music, chaos and rhythm.
