Clubs & Societies
Joining a Club or Society is one of the best ways to meet like-minded individuals. SUSU has over 300 to choose from so there is something for everyone. However, if you’re not sure which Club or Society to join you can always try something out and see how it goes. If it isn’t for you no worries you can always try something else.
Break The Ice
If you’re looking to meet new people in a relaxed and welcoming setting, Break The Ice is the perfect event for you. Designed to help you connect with others, the event kicks off with a fun icebreaker activity to get everyone talking, followed by plenty of time to mingle, chat, and make new friends. With free entry, no ticket required, and complimentary hot drinks and snacks, all you need to bring is yourself and a smile!

Looking to meet new people? SUSU hold events all year round to help students connect with other students. From icebreakers and crafts, to clubs and society taster sessions.

These networks are safe, supportive communities where students can connect, share experiences, and advocate for their interests. If you self-identify as part of any of these groups, you’re welcome to join! Simply visit their individual pages to learn more and become part of the community.

Ways to Connect
Buddy Scheme
SUSU Buddy Scheme is a relaxed, peer-to-peer support system where new students are matched with a friendly volunteer buddy. Your buddy will check in with you—online or in person—to see how you're doing, offer support, and help you settle into life at the University of Southampton. The Buddy Scheme will reopen for Freshers.
Housemate Finder
Finding the right housemates can have a big effect on your university experience. SUSU’s Housemate Finder is here to help you meet other people who are also looking for a house, or to find people to fill your spare rooms.
