Finding the right housemates can have a big effect on your university experience. SUSU’s Housemate Finder is here to help you meet other people who are also looking for a house, or to find people to fill your spare rooms.
Before getting started, consider:
- Is signing a contract to rent a house, most likely for 12 months, the best choice for you in the current circumstances? If you would like some advice in this area, please contact the Advice Centre on advice@susu.org

Looking for two housemates for our house of four (plus two cats!). The house is 10 minutes walk to Highfield campus, 5 minutes walk to Sainsbury’s and Portswood and 2 minutes to the closest bus stop. The rooms are both doubles, and the house has a nice lounge, two bathrooms (one with shower, toilet and sink and one with toilet and sink) and a lovely garden. The rent is £415 or £430 (depending on room) with bills included. We’re pretty chilled and friendly, but also respectful if people would rather keep to themselves! You will also have access to two toilets and a shower. The size of the bedroom is 10.5-11m². The room is advertised on its website 'Green Wood Court' with images and prices but I can offer it for less because I signed up earlier in the year and will donate my deposit to you. I'm Lucy, I'm looking to replace my spot in a house near Highfield (about 10 min walk from uni) because I'm going on placement for the 24/25 academic year. its a 4 bedroom house (2 bathrooms) with 2 girls and 1 non-binary person (male presenting) currently living there (2 third years, 1 second year). Its got a lovely kitchen/socialising area and we regularly have game nights and watch movies together. They are a really lovely bunch of housemates and super respectful of privacy/quiet but also very fun to go out with. Its £126 a week bills included. there's on street parking super close to the house and you can park there with a permit (£30 a year) Let me know if you are interested!

The house is really lovely (described as the most homely student house I've ever seen by many many people). Hi there! I'm looking for someone to take over my classic studio room tenancy at 'Austen House' (Postcode SO14 3LS) starting from end of June to beginning of September (27th June 2025 to 5th September 2025 - 10 weeks). It is a 2 minute walk to the bus stop from which you can take UlA/U1C to and from university, 10 minute walk from the coach station, and 10 minute walk from city centre making it easy to stay connected to campus life and get the perks of being city centre too, including the best parks, bars and restaurants. It is the Classic Studio Flat, which means you get the entire place to yourself (Entire Place/Private Bathroom/Private Kitchen). Before moving in I made sure to clean every single surface in the room, and have been maintaining it that way so rest assured you will be handed a VERY clean room. The room is very spacious, comes with a large desk with multiple sockets and amazing water pressure. Wi-fi and utilities are all included. The accommodation comes with a laundry room, bike storage, reception (they also collect parcels 24/7), security guards, cinema room, gaming room, a bar, and very friendly staff. There is also Tesco express only a 5 minute walk away. The rent will be £200.50 a week, so for 10 weeks that will be £2005.00. There is no parking, but there is parking nearby that we know of that is free so we can also use there.
