Finding the right housemates can have a big effect on your university experience. SUSU’s Housemate Finder is here to help you meet other people who are also looking for a house, or to find people to fill your spare rooms.
Before getting started, consider:
- Is signing a contract to rent a house, most likely for 12 months, the best choice for you in the current circumstances? If you would like some advice in this area, please contact the Advice Centre on advice@susu.org

Hi, I’ve lived in this student flat for a year and both my flatmates are doing a year abroad so I’m looking to replace them. The flat is in Bassett (Vermont Close) and it’s a 20 minute walk to highfield with bus stops nearby. There’s also a Sainsbury’s local down the road. Rent is £151.50 a week, utilities included. There are 3 evenly sized bedrooms containing double beds, a desk, a chair and a wardrobe. There are 3 bathrooms, 2 of which have a shower and 2 that have a toilet. The kitchen/living room is spacious with lots of storage as well a washing machine and a tumble dryer. As a flatmate, I’m clean and considerate about noise. The rent is most likely going to be around £900 per month (bills not included), however, it can be lower depending on the tenancy length. I'm ideally looking for a 9/10 month tenancy, however am open to a longer tenancy to stay long term. It's a beautiful flat, with gorgeous views of the centenary quay. It may be worth noting you have to prepared to travel 40 mins to get to Southampton uni, however, I stayed at a 1 bed, and did not find it too hard. I will also have a car, so would be happy to let you share it if you're paying for your own gas, and have a full driving licence.
