Krishna Consciousness Society

Krishna Consciousness Society is a welcoming student-led society that gives students a calm, uplifting and open space to explore spirituality, mindfulness, philosophy and personal growth. Rooted in the teachings of Krishna consciousness and Vedic wisdom, the society is open to everyone, regardless of faith, background, culture or previous experience. At its heart, KCSOC is about community. University can be an exciting time, but it can also feel stressful, isolating and overwhelming. Our society aims to offer students a space where they can pause, reflect, meet like-minded people and have meaningful conversations beyond the usual pressures of academic life. Through open discussions, meditation, kirtan, guest speakers, retreats, volunteering opportunities, social events and shared meals, we hope to create an environment where students feel supported, valued and inspired. Our sessions explore topics that are genuinely relevant to student life, such as purpose, identity, happiness, stress, relationships, comparison, discipline, self-confidence and finding balance. The aim is to make spirituality feel practical and accessible, rather than distant or difficult to understand. Students are encouraged to ask questions, share their own thoughts and take away ideas that can help them in their studies, relationships and personal lives. KCSOC also gives students the opportunity to experience practices such as meditation and kirtan, which can help promote calmness, gratitude and a more positive mindset. Alongside this, the society encourages service, compassion and friendship, helping students build strong connections with others who are also interested in living with more intention and awareness. As part of the wider UK Krishna Consciousness Society network, members may also have the chance to attend retreats, national events and inter-university gatherings. These opportunities allow students to meet people from other universities, take part in spiritual and cultural activities, and feel part of a wider supportive community. Overall, Krishna Consciousness Society exists to bring students together in a kind, thoughtful and inclusive environment. We want to support student wellbeing, encourage open discussion, and help people explore spirituality in a way that feels meaningful, practical and relevant to modern university life.
