Southampton Pub Society

Since the creation of the first ever Southampton pub - the Red Lion - in the 15th/16th century, "pub culture" - as it would be - has shifted the Southampton student experience exceptionally, as well as for the greater public. In Pub Society, we wish to bring light to the culture and history which makes up the roughly 137 (to date) pubs and bars that make up Southampton. By visiting pubs and exploring the themes and cultures that make up their background, we aim to extend appreciation of pubs to their environments and social opportunities past simply the drinks from the tap. We understand that uni can be a very daunting experience. Pubs offer relaxed, welcoming spaces where new students can meet people, grow their social confidence, and form lasting friendships. Through our events, we hope to make Southampton feel smaller, friendlier, and easier to call home.
