Futsal

Futsal is a thrilling and fast-paced variant of soccer played on a smaller, indoor court with teams typically consisting of five players per side. What makes futsal exceptionally captivating is its emphasis on skill, quick decision-making, and close ball control. The confined space of the court encourages players to develop exceptional dribbling, passing, and close-quarters ball-handling abilities. Futsal's fast tempo demands both physical fitness and tactical intelligence, making it a fantastic tool for player development. Moreover, the game promotes teamwork, as players must constantly communicate and coordinate their movements to succeed. With its accessibility and versatility, futsal is not only a great sport for honing soccer skills but also an exciting and inclusive way to enjoy the beautiful game year-round.

The University of Southampton Futsal society offers both the chance to play competitive and casual futsal. Whether you want to represent the university in the BUCS league or just try it out, this inclusive game can be played by anyone.

The game is an indoor 5-a-side match, with similar rules to football but vary slightly to ensure the game is fast-paced and enjoyable to play.

The main team trains twice a week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays with matches on Sundays. Casual futsal occurs on Saturday evenings, where lots of matches are played.
