Welcome to the Sudanese Society in Southampton (SudSocSoton)! Our society is dedicated to fostering a vibrant community among Sudanese students and anyone interested in Sudanese culture at the University of Southampton. We aim to provide a supportive and inclusive space for members to connect, celebrate, and share our rich cultural heritage. Through a variety of events, including cultural celebrations, educational/awareness stalls, and social gatherings, we strive to promote understanding and appreciation of Sudanese traditions, languages, and customs. Available products to purchase for Sudanese Society
Khartoum: An Evening of Film, Art and Sudanese Culture. Special screening and Q&A with the filmmakers
In collaboration with Southampton Film week, Southampton City Eye, Native Voice films, the University of Southampton’s Sudanese Society, Union Films, Middle Eastern Society, Film society, Humanitarian aid society, Wessex Scene, Surge Radio and Amnesty Society.
Join us for a special screening of Khartoum, followed by a conversation and audience Q&A with members of the filmmaking team visiting Southampton. The evening will also explore connections between Southampton and Sudan, with a contribution from Sadagaat, the event’s charity beneficiary who will be in attendance and a surprise Announcement at the end.
Alongside the screening, visitors can explore Sudanese art, poetry and cultural heritage through exhibitions, henna, calligraphy and community stalls also planned. Doors open at 5:00 pm, with talks from 6:00 pm and the film at 6:30 pm.
