Introduction

Team Southampton Motorsport is the dedicated motorsport club for the University of Southampton. We are primarily a karting club and hold events suitable for drivers of all skill and experience levels. For Formula 1 and wider motorsport fans we run a variety of social events for members to meet fellow enthusiasts, watch and discuss races. Social

Whatever your interest in motorsport, there will be someone in TSM passionate about it too, whether you are a fan of F1, F2, F3, Indycar, WEC, GTWC, WRC, MotoGP, MXGP or anything else, there will be people in TSM who want to talk about it. Our main social offerings are:

• Whatsapp Channel - The best place for fans of motorsport at Southampton to discuss drivers, teams and results. We will also provide updates on events through our announcements channel, and there is also a channel for suggestions for improvements.
• Race Viewings - Most F1 races are shown in The Stag’s on campus, however with high demand we can book out lecture halls for the society viewings of F1, MotoGP and more
• Motorsport Events - At Southampton we are nearby to Thruxton Circuit, Beaulieu Motor Museum & Goodwood, and will organise trips to each with sufficient demand

Karting

We will be on circuit more than ever this year, with events for drivers at every level of experience:

• TeamSport Karting - Indoor karting just for fun, the perfect place to get started, race against your friends and learn basic kart control and racecraft.
• Thruxton Endurance Championship - A step up from indoor karting, TSM will be entering monthly endurance races driving 4-stroke petrol karts at Thruxton Kart Centre. This is the perfect place to build up your skills before entering test days for the BUKC.
• British Universities Karting Championship - The BUKC is a national karting championship where teams of the best drivers from UK universities race against each other in Club100’s 125cc 2-stroke racing karts at circuits all across the country.

Driver Academy

We also serve as the driver academy for the Southampton University Formula Student Team (SUFST). Our BUKC drivers are analysed by the team at SUFST over the course of the season, with the best receiving the call-up to test the car ahead of competition at Silverstone in July. As a SUFST driver, you get the opportunity to drive the Formula Student car at Beaulieu Motor Museum to collect data for the Race Engineers to validate designs and develop setups. You also get the opportunity to drive the car in the dynamic events at competition at Silverstone. Membership

We offer three levels of membership to the society, dependent on the level of investment/involvement desired:

• Social Membership (£0) - With a social membership you will gain access to the Whatsapp channel, race viewings and social events. This is a great way to meet fellow enthusiasts and make friends to talk racing with.
• Karting Membership (£30) - With a karting membership you gain all of the benefits of being a social member, along with access to our discounted university karting events at TeamSport circuits and Thruxton Kart Centre. This is the membership for you if you love motorsport and want to get involved at the grass roots level. Note that whilst we can heavily discount karting events, additional payment is required to enter each event.
• BUKC Karting Membership (£50) - With a BUKC karting membership, you gain all of the benefits of the social and karting membership, with additional access to enter the BUKC test days and obtain a BUKC racing license! You’ll be eligible for the race teams, and if you’re fast enough, you may receive the call up to one of our three teams for races through the season. It is recommended to speak to one of the committee before purchasing this membership to make sure it is right for you.
