1. Welcome

Welcome from Tess Voysey (Halls Officer) Arun Aggaral (VP Student Communities) and Sam Higman (VP Welfare).

2. Co-option

The following positions were coopted during the meeting:

Patrick Lowe - Archers Road Fundraising and Volunteering Officer

Emily Kilmartin - Chamberlain Halls Secretary

Anushka Patel - Gateway Halls Welfare Officer

3. Core Offer of Activities

Tess Voysey (TV) explained that the Halls Committee from 2017 agreed upon having a core offer of activities provided by the Students' Union to help aid them during their time in the role. The committee fed back and advised that the community nights are so far going well. Arun Aggarwal (AA) explained that all halls will be having community nights, along with Quiz Nights and Kareoke Nights before the Easter Break takes places. TV advised that Union Films will also be annoncing shortly exclusive screenings of Black Panther for first year students. 

TV advised that whilst the core offer is in place, Halls Committees are encouraged to put on activities which will engage students. 

4. Funding

TV explained to the committee that the University give a funding grant to the Students' Union each year to focus on the student experience of first year students in halls. TV advised that this year the funding amount has yet to be granted, however in previous years this has been around £125,000 per year. TV further added that this funding supports such things as Freshers and the Christmas Ball. The committee were reminded that any funding requests under £100.00 does not need approval from the committee, anything over £100.00 need to be agreed upon by the Hall Committee Board. 

The followin funding request were submitted and approved:

Monte Halls - Condoms for SCA Week = £219.98 

Connaught Football Field Hire = £240.00

TV advised the committee that the final budget for 2018 is still to be confirmed but is hopeful to advise of this at the next committee board. 

5. Sexual Consent Awareness Campaign

Sam Higman (SH) advised the board that SCA week will shortly be taking place. A number of activities have been planned both in Halls and on campus. SH advised that if anyone wants more information about how to get involved, to contact her or TV. 

SH added that she is also keen on creating a Welfare Sub Committee and would encourage those who are Halls Officers to get involved. 

6. AOB

Outgoing Trips sent a representative to discuss the Trip to Amsterdam prior to the Easter Break.
