Highfield

We are a group of second years aged 19/20, 3 girls, 2 boys. Studying geography x2 medicine x2 and civil engineering x1. We are a studious group and spend plenty of time in the library but also really enjoy sport and socialising through sport. Between us we are part of the kayaking, athletics, triathlon, dance and tennis societies but this doesn’t mean a new housemate needs to be sporty! Just be aware we’re early risers and we will often go out for walks/runs, bike rides or swims together and would choose a film night in over clubbing. We do go out on sports socials and drinking occasionally but this is almost always out of the house. We would say no to house parties and hosting socials in the house and would not expect the new housemate to have large gatherings of people over to the house. We are a friendly bunch but having lived with messy flatmates last year we like to have clean and tidy kitchen and bathrooms. We’d expect a flatmate to take turns in cleaning and ensure all washing up done straight away. It is a single room with a large desk, wardrobe and bookshelf costing rent of £441.67 per month with bills as a uni homes package costing £108.33 per month set up as a direct debit to unihomes. This is fixed regardless of usage and paid straight to unihomes. There is a possibility it could go up in April when the government scheme ends, and we have been told it would be £119 per month come April with no government help. The house is about 5/10 mins walk to Highfield campus, 5/10 mins walk to portswood and 2 mins from the u1c/u1A bus stop. There is no driveway and permit holders only in the road (we have used the 2 permits for the house), but you can park in road at weekends and weekdays between 6pm and 8am with no restrictions. The house has 2 shower/toilets and an additional toilet. A lovely modern kitchen/dinning/lounge area so nice and sociable when people are cooking/watching films. We have a shed in the garden that we use for bike storage and a garden too. Our housemate is ill so has had to move home; we would need someone as soon as possible to take over from her as she cannot afford to pay for somewhere she isn't living. She would like to move out as soon as possible but would need someone to collect belongings so bear with us on an official move in date. However, it is likely to be sooner than the end of October.
