Make more microwave facilities available around campus.
there are often long queues for the microwaves, especially in the library. Please could more microwaves be made available across campus. One in Building 85 would be ace!

Hello again!
Hopefully my last answer has provided some reassurance that this is being actively looked into by both the University and the Union. Since implementation is going to take some time I'm going to close this You Make Change for now, but keep an eye on SUSU social media for updates when some new microwaves have been launched.
Thanks for making the submission, and all the best,

Hello again!
Just a quick update today - I can confirm that the areas being looked at for additional microwaves are B58 (Murray) and B46 (Physics). We're also exploring the possibility of additional microwaves at Hartley Library based on student demand for them over the recent examination period.
Keep the voting happening, and let me know if you have any further questions.
All the best,

Hello!
Thank you for making this submission to You Make Change. The good news is that there is a little work already going on to this end, which I'll summarise below:
- Following the successful launch of the Hartley Library microwave the University has been looking at locations where additional units could be installed. Their current plan (which I think makes sense) is to install them at the corners of Highfield to ensure even coverage, and then in a similar manner at our satelite campuses. There are a number of spaces being looked at as part of this - I'll get back to you once I've clarified where these are.
- There is also a project underway to improve the mapping of these microwaves (using maps.soton.ac.uk). A data layer will soon being going live with a number of Student Amenities, including (but not limited to) microwaves.
Hopefully that helps clarify things a little. Of course this is all a lot easier when I can demonstrate student demand, and so please do share around the link to your submission on the SUSU website so that people can vote on it.
If you have any questions please let me know.
All the best,
Samuel Dedman
