Can SUSU do anything to improve the cycle paths around the campus please? While the other cycling facilities around campus are good the paths seem to have been ignored and leave a lot to be desired!

My daily cycle in alone has two dangerous parts. First is the path outside physics which was resurfaced with black tarmac rather than red like the rest of the path and none of the cycle lane painting was replaced - it is a pedestrian slalom now. The second is the road between Building 5/7 and the library where the contraflow cycle lane is neither joined to University Road (again, resurfacing happened and the lines were not repainted) nor are there any signs for vehicles coming up from Hartley Aveue - nobody wants a head-on with a stubborn car. These are just the problems on my daily cycle so no doubt there are more across campus.

Thanks for getting in touch. I’ll pass these on to the transport team at the University and hopefully these problems should be resolved. We’ve been discussing with students and the University opportunities to promote safe cycling as a healthy means of transport around the city, so it’s really important that cycling facilities on campus are well-maintained.
