seek that the Library has security cameras

Complete

Although I try not to leave my computer or personal possessions on my desk if I am not there, sometimes you need to go and find a book or get some water/food and this can mean leaving your possessions at a desk for longer than a couple of minutes. I don't think I have ever seen a security camera on level 5 but it may be different for other floors.

Hi again,

crime is not a major issue within the library anymore, hence it is difficult to justify installing more cameras. Security do conduct crime initiatives and have just completed one in the library focusing on laptop theft – which is at an all time low thanks to such initiatives.

Kind regards,

Jo Lisney, VP Education&Democracy 2019-20, (vpeddem@soton.ac.uk)

Hello again,

I am still working on getting an answer for you at the moment, but this is taking longer than I anticipated. Since my Sabbatical term is coming to an end within the next week or so I can confirm that this You Make Change submission will be passing to Jo Lisney (incoming SUSU VP Education & Democracy) who will be progressing it from here onwards.

Thanks for the submission and apologies again that you are still awaiting a response.

Best wishes,

Sam Dedman (SUSU VP Education 2017-19, vpeducation@susu.org)

Hello there!

I should first of all start by saying that we don't encourage people to leave the belongings unattended under any circumstances, even for a short period of time. I  do know, however, that this exact topic has been one that the Library and Security have been discussing as of late. Let me get in touch with the Library and see what their current thoughts are.

I'll be in touch once I know more!

Best wishes,

Sam Dedman (SUSU VP Education 2017-19, vpeducation@susu.org)
