Dedicate a room in the union as a full time disabled students room

Complete

I saw this existed at Sussex University where they have a room dedicated for disabled students with sofas, blankets etc. as a  respite area for students with disabilities. I have chronic fatigue and anxiety which make a long day at university quite hard.  A facility like this would invaluably improve my university experience as it would motivate me to actually attend all my lectures if I have a busy day.

Hi Bethany,

Thank you for your You Make Change submission.

I'm pleased to say that there is already a disabled students room that exists for students located at the Nuffield Theatre! To be able to access this, you first need to meet with a disability practitioner from the University Enabling services. To set up a meeting, their contact details are: 02380597726

Once you have met with them and have proof of disability, you will be put on the access request and will be able to access the room with your student ID card. The room has the same opening hours of the Nuffield Theatre.

If there's anything else I can do to help, please let me know. My email is vpcommunities@susu.org

Kind regards,

Emily Harrison,

Vice President Student Communities, 2018-19.

How would/Should you prevent non-disabled students from using the room?
