Hi,

Thank you so much for this 'You Make Change' submission!

I have spoken to the Estates Team and they have said, "On the academic estate there are currently more than 1,100 internal recycling bins and 120 food caddies in use. This is replicated in the Residential estate.  Externally, there are 143 1100 litre recycling bins, and 87 240 litre Food Waste bins, located in 52 separate compounds.". With this in mind, I believe that there is adequate recycling and food waste bins across the university and all of it's sites. As part of my sabbatical plan I am looking at how we can maximise the usage of recycling bins within SUSU, potentially setting up a recycling focused area on the concourse. However, this will be an ongoing project throughout the year which I will be updating via SUSU's social media, so be sure to check it out there!

I am going to close this submission now. If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at president@soton.ac.uk or submit another YMC.

All the best,

Oliver Murray
