The refill stations in the front of the SUSU shop are great for sustainability but I would love to see Shampoo and Conditioner refills as many eco-refill stores have them but none close to campus. Would be great to see if this is possible!

Hi,
The manager of The Shop has gotten back to the Head of Social Enterprise and I about their investigation into this matter. Unfortunately, we determined that even if we sold shampoo and conditioner in a zero waste format at a loss, it would still be vastly more expensive to students than for them to buy shampoo and conditioner from supermarkets. With rising inflation, among other issues, fueling the cost-of-living crisis, we are unable to offer this to students at the moment.
I am going to close this submission for now, if you have any further questions please feel free to make another submission or email me directly at president @soton.ac.uk

Hi,
We have asked our manager of The Shop to investigate this further as while we think it is a great sustainability initiative, we are concerned about the costs this may potentially impose on students during the cost-of-living crisis as zero waste shops are typically more expensive. I will provide an update on this once I hear back!

Hi,
Thank you for your 'You Make Change' submission! Apologies for the delay, I have been occupied with Freshers events and being out of office with COVID-19 for the past week.
I have asked to speak to our Head of Social Enterprise this coming Monday (17/10) about this and a few other student requests. I will be able to provide more details and an update on this following this meeting.
All the best,
Oliver Murray
