Turn off Christmas Lights

Rhia Perks submitted on

Monday 5th December 2022

The Christmas lights are being kept on all through the night when nobody is on campus - it is not in line with their sustainability stance as this uses a lot of electricity. They should be on a timer for a few hours during the evenings, not 24/7.

Hi Rhia,

Thank you for this submission and for raising this issue!

Our COO has followed up on this with the University's Estates Team and they will be installing timers to minimise the amount of time that the lights are switched on.

I am going to close this submission has this matter has been addressed. If you have any further questions or concerns please feel free to make another submission or contact me directly at president@soton.ac.uk

All the best,

Oliver Murray
