Provide more proactive support for clubs and societies to find sponsors
With the university upping the price of the sports pass, and constantly increasing costs of being part of a club or society, membership is dwindling and sports and socs is no longer accessible to all. We've been told time and time again that there is not enough budget for everyone to get the grants we require to run and to look for alternative ways to generate funds but there is no advice and guidance on this. I have also heard that SUSU have in the past not allowed societies to have certain sponsors, which seems counterproductive to their message of self-sufficiency.
More workshops and proactive support for finding sponsors is needed and this shouldn't be a role that the committees have to work on themselves.

Hi! Thanks for submitting a You Make Change!
Our Activities Team has been working on sponsorships, and we have recently uploaded a variety of guides and example contracts onto our how too guides (SUSU - Opportunities - Seeking External Sponsorship), so please check out that page for some more information and guidance on how to go about securing sponsorships!
Additionally, the Activities team are going to be running a new training session next academic year to specifically go through how to get external sponsorships. If you need support before then, please email suactivities@soton.ac.uk to book in a one-to-one meeting and one of our activities coordinators will be able to help you!
